Growth performance and digestibility of juvenile Nile tilapia fed diets containing acid silage viscera of surubim catfish - doi: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v35i1.14470 Animal Sciences
Hisano, Hamilton; Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste; Pietro, Pamela Souza de; Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados.
This study aimed to evaluate increasing levels (0, 4, 8 and 12%) of acid silage viscera of surubim catfish as an alternative protein source on growth performance and apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) for Nile tilapia. Weight gain (WG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and protein efficiency ratio (PER) were evaluated. The digestibility for dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), gross energy (GE) and availability of phosphorus (P) were also assessed. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments and four repetitions. The results indicated no difference (p > 0.05) for growth performance parameters. The ADC of CP of treatment containing 8% of silage was lower (p < 0.05) when...

Inclusion of exogenous enzymes to feathers during processing on the digestible energy content of feather meal for adult dogs R. Bras. Zootec.
Pacheco,Gabriel Faria Estivallet; Pezzali,Júlia Guazzelli; Kessler,Alexandre de Mello; Trevizan,Luciano.
ABSTRACT This study was conducted to determine the coefficient of total tract apparent digestibility (CTTAD) of nutrients and gross energy (GE), metabolizable energy (ME), coefficient of metabolizability of gross energy (CM of GE), and fecal characteristics of dogs fed diets with two levels of feather meal, with or without addition of an enzyme blend containing lipase and protease activity. Ten adult Beagle dogs (aged between 1 and 2 years and weighing 10.2±1.4 kg) were arranged in a 5 × 3 incomplete Latin square design with five treatments and three periods. The extruded basal diet was provided in equal amounts to all dogs (220 g/d), and 7.5 and 15% of hydrolyzed feather meal without enzymes (HFM) or HFM processed with addition of the enzyme blend (HFM...

Laying Performance and Egg Quality of Japanese Quails Fed Diets Containing Castor Meal and Enzyme Complex Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Ludke,MCMM; Pimentel,ACS; Ludke,JV; Silva,JCNS; Rabello,CBV; Santos,JS.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of diets formulated with corn plus soybean meal (CSM) or with 21% autoclaved castor meal (ACM), with the addition of two enzyme complexes (EC1 and EC2), on the performance and egg quality of laying quail. Two hundred and sixteen quails were selected by egg production and weight uniformity and distributed in a completely randomized design with six treatments (in a 2 × 3 cross-factorial arrangement) and six replicates with six birds each. Three CSM and three ACM diets supplemented withEC1, EC2, or unsupplemented were established. The trial lasted three cycles of 21 days. Feed intake, laying rate, egg mass, feed conversion per egg mass, and feed conversion per dozen eggs did not differ. The use...

Partial replacement of soybean meal with pea grains and sunflower cake in ewe diets: milk quality and blood biochemical parameters R. Bras. Zootec.
Antunović,Zvonko; Šperanda,Marcela; Mioč,Boro; Klir,Željka; Ćavar,Suzana; Novoselec,Josip.
ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of pea and sunflower cake as partial replacement for soybean meal in diet, as well as to assess their effect on milk quality during lactation and on blood parameters of ewes kept in organic farming. The research was carried out with 30 ewes of Merinolandschaf breed during 75 days. Ewes were given mixtures based on soybean meal as a protein source in control group (SBM), while in experimental groups, soybean meal was partially replaced with pea grain (P) and sunflower cake (SFC). Biochemical parameters (urea, glucose, total protein, albumin, globulins, cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglyceride, β-hydroxybutyrate, and non-esterified fatty acids), as well as enzyme activity (ALT, AST, ALP, GGT, and...

Partial substitution of fishmeal with soybean protein-based diets for dourado Salminus brasiliensis Scientia Agricola
Correa,Roselany de Oliveira; Aguilar,Fredy Armando Aguilar; Cruz,Thaline Maira Pachelli da; Sabioni,Rafael Estevan; Cyrino,José Eurico Possebon.
ABSTRACT Cost and environmental restrictions limit the use of fishmeal (FM) in aquafeeds and plant protein (PP) sources. Soybean by-products are important alternative; however, their antinutritional factors may reduce fish growth. This study evaluates the effect of FM substitution for PP (soybean meal and soy protein concentrate) in diets of dourado (Salminus brasiliensis), a promising species for fish farming and empirically considered highly tolerant to PP-based diets. A control diet was formulated to contain 20 % of fishmeal and 61 % of plant protein (SBM) and other five diets with decreasing FM graded levels (16 %, 12 %, 8 %, 4 %, 0 %), which were replaced by soybean protein concentrate (SPC), comprising six treatments and four replicates. Fifteen...

The effects of ovalbumin as a protein source during the in vitro production of bovine embryos R. Bras. Zootec.
Tetzner,Tatiane Almeida Drummond; Saraiva,Naiara Zoccal; Perecin,Felipe; Niciura,Simone Cristina Méo; Ferreira,Christina Ramires; Oliveira,Clara Slade; Garcia,Joaquim Mansano.
Embryo quality is influenced by the culture conditions that affect in vitro maturation (IVM), fertilization (IVF) and culture (IVC) rates. The present study investigated the feasibility of producing bovine embryos after the replacement of fetal calf serum (FCS) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) by ovalbumin (OVA). The IVM and IVC medium were supplemented with 10% FCS, 4 mg/mL BSA, or 4 mg/mL OVA. The IVF medium was supplemented with 6 mg/mL BSA or OVA. For IVM, supplementation with FCS, BSA, and OVA did not affect nuclear maturation or cortical granule migration. Higher rates of formation of two pronuclei were obtained when FCS was employed for IVM (79.97%), regardless of the supplement used for IVF, and when BSA was used for IVF (59.4%), regardless of the...

In this study, the influence of fibrolytic enzymes in diet contained tomato pomace as a fiber sources on carcass quality of 2 month old turkeys was assessed. A total of 24 birds were arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD). The birds were assigned to 4 dietary treatments: control diet (T1), control diet + 0.2% of fibrolytic enzymes (T2), control diet + 10% of tomato pomace (T3), and control diet + 0.2% of fibrolytic enzymes + 10% of tomato pomace (T4). The results were shown that the carcass quality and breast weight of all groups were no t difference (P>0.05). For meat color, the redness color (a* value) and yellowness color (b* value) of breast were higher in birds fed control diet + 10% of tomato pomace (T3) and control diet + 0.2% of...
